Greater Manchester Genomic Medicine Centre

Greater Manchester GMC is working with Genomics England, NHS England and Health Education England to transform the delivery of genomics in the NHS. Established in 2015, the Greater Manchester GMC serves a population of 3.5 million. We are

• Recruiting patients with rare disease and cancer to the 100,000 Genomes Project, to increase the diagnosis of these conditions and improve the treatment and care of affected patients
• Delivering genomics education to healthcare professionals
• Engaging with patients / the public about the role of genomics in healthcare
• Working to transform IT and data systems to ensure that we provide the best services for patients.

Professor Bill Newman, Honorary Consultant at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, is Director of Greater Manchester GMC. Our local Delivery Partners for the Project are: The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust with support from the Greater Manchester Academic Health Sciences Network and the Public Programmes Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
