Lesley qualified in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and gained an MSc from the University of London. At ICI Diagnostics she helped develop the ARMS mutation detection technique and then joined the Willink Metabolic Unit at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital where she established a busy metabolic DNA section including mitochondrial DNA analysis. In 2010 the Willink DNA section amalgamated with the Regional Genetics Service at St Mary’s Hospital. Lesley is now a team leader within the Constitutional Genetics Section of the Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory with a special interest in the genetics of metabolic disorders.
