We aim to run participant open days to offer opportunities for patients taking part in the 100,000 Genomes Project in Greater Manchester. Our first pilot participation day was held on 28th November 2016. This year, we held a Greater Manchester GMC Ambassasdors day on 26th March 2018 for feedback from the national participant panel.
We have had an active participant advisory group which have been involved in teaching and the education of healthcare professionals in the North West region, advise around research projects accompanying the 100,000 Genomes Project and participate in Project Board meetings in the GMC. If you are taking part in the 100,000 Genomes project in Greater Manchester and you would like more information about the participant advisory group, please contact georgina.hall@mft.nhs.uk.
As the project draws to a close towards the end of this year, we will continue to work with our participant group to consider the needs of participants going forward and further developments in genomic services in the North West Region.
